My name is Eleanor Bryant-Frost, I’m 19 years old and I just came back from a three-week adventure in France around the Bordeaux / Périgord area. I had a fantastic time; as a language student, it came as an amazing opportunity for me to polish up my French (which I certainly did!). I spent 10 days with my host family in Bordeaux and got the chance to see beautiful architecture, stunning sights and even got to visit the lovely beaches of La Rochelle and the beautiful town of Saint Emilion. I spent another 10 days with an international youth camp in the Périgord Noir and made so many friends for life from all over the world. I now have links to Italy, the USA, Israel, Japan and many more amazing places! I canoed for five hours down the River Isle, climbed the Great Dune of Pyla (the tallest sand dune in Europe), swam in the Dordogne, visited the Lascaux Caves, toured medieval castles and beautiful gothic French towns like Sarlat and Terrasson. I helped run a wine festival, raised money for underprivileged children suburbs and even got the opportunity to have lunch and play with them – such a rewarding experience. This Lions Youth Exchange programme has been such a fantastic experience; I’ve broadened my horizons far further than I ever expected to, done so many interesting things, pushed myself to the limits and all-in-all had a three week trip I’ll never forget!
